SOUNDSHOT.

How can we design a product that monitors something to make users more aware and help improve their health?

SoundShot targets urban commuters to be mindful of the noise around them, and to take preventative measures against hearing loss.

THE PROBLEM.

IMG_1854.jpeg

Noise pollution is expected in urban environments: The tube, construction, blaring horns. However, after long-term exposure, your hearing begins to deteriorate.

Certain environments are more harmful, such as the London Underground being as loud as a rock concert (109db) in some sections. However, it only takes being repeatedly exposed to 75db for hearing damage to begin.

THE SOLUTION.

SoundShot is an earbud carrying necklace that continuously measures noise levels in an environment.

This connects with an app to alert the user when they should use their earbuds. The user recieves their 'Soundshot' of the day, informing them of the loudest areas they were in, and suggests quieter alternatives.
