How can we help people who struggle to speak to be able to communicate their needs / desires?
The client was Hannah, whose passion was acting, dancing and making people laugh. However, her disabilities often make this difficult. Her joints would lock up, causing difficulty moving and speaking. This made it hard for her to engage with her friends and family.
THE IDEA.
After continuous interviews with Hannah, the idea of a bespoke communication box was born.
Her interests and hobbies were incorporated in the card designs and phyical box, while ensuring it was easy to use and carry on days when her disabilities caused difficulty with movement.
By the end of the project, she had a full working product with over fourty communication cards, a custom travel case with felt textures and built in fidgets.
